To send LinkedIn messages faster, save the messages you repeat, such as your intro, a follow-up and a thank-you note, as text shortcuts. Then type a short code like `c/intro` in the message box and the full text replaces it. With a `{name}` placeholder, each message is personal in seconds instead of retyped.

It suits recruiters, founders and job seekers who send the same 3-5 messages to new contacts every day.

## How do I set up LinkedIn text shortcuts?

Write each message once and give it a short name.

1. In [SuperCommands](/docs/text-expanders), create a text expander named `intro`.
2. Write the message, with `{name}` where the person's name goes: "Hi `{name}`, I lead growth at Acme and liked your post on onboarding. Open to a quick chat?"
3. Save. Repeat for `followup` and `thanks`.

Keep a short version for connection-request notes, which LinkedIn limits in length.

## How do I use them in a LinkedIn message?

1. Open a LinkedIn chat or the **Add a note** box on a connection request.
2. Type `c/intro`. The full message replaces the code.
3. Replace `{name}` with the person's name and send.

- Scenario: a recruiter sends 20 intro messages a day. Typing `c/intro` plus a name replaces about 250 characters of typing per message.
- The same snippets work in Gmail, Slack and any other text box in Chrome, Edge or Brave.
- Limit: snippets do not fill in the name for you, and they do not run inside the LinkedIn mobile app.

SuperCommands is free and open source. The local version is 100% free, forever.

## Does LinkedIn have saved replies built in?

Paid tools such as Sales Navigator and LinkedIn Recruiter include message templates inside their own inboxes. They only work in LinkedIn. A text shortcut covers LinkedIn and every other site with one set of messages.

## What goes wrong with message templates on LinkedIn?

- **Sounding copied.** Change one line per message: mention the post, company or event that made you reach out.
- **Wrong name left in.** Always replace `{name}` before sending; read the first line once.
- **Too long for a connection note.** Keep a short `intro` for notes and a longer version for chats.

## Which one should you pick?

- Pick LinkedIn's built-in templates if you already pay for Sales Navigator or Recruiter and only message on LinkedIn.
- Pick text shortcuts if you send the same messages on LinkedIn, Gmail and Slack.
- For snippets with forms and logic, see our [Text Blaze vs TextExpander comparison](/blogs/text-blaze-vs-textexpander) and [how to create text shortcuts in Chrome](/blogs/how-to-create-text-shortcuts-in-chrome).

## FAQ

### Is using message templates on LinkedIn allowed?

Typing your own saved text is normal use. Avoid sending identical messages in bulk, which LinkedIn treats as spam.

### Can I add a placeholder for the company name?

Yes. Add as many placeholders as you need, such as `{name}` and `{company}`, and replace each before sending.

### Do text shortcuts work on the LinkedIn mobile app?

No. SuperCommands runs in Chrome, Edge and Brave on desktop, so use it on LinkedIn in the browser.

Send LinkedIn messages faster: save your intro, follow-up and thank-you notes as text shortcuts, then type c/intro to paste the full message with the name.

How to Send LinkedIn Messages Faster with Text Shortcuts

Pick OneTab if you want to clear a cluttered window in one click and rarely reopen the same tabs; pick Toby if you reopen the same project tabs from a visual board and want sync. OneTab is free with about 2 million users, while Toby's free plan stops at 60 saved cards. If you reopen the same sets daily and want them free, SuperCommands opens a named set with one command.

Prices and numbers are from each official page and Chrome Web Store listing as of October 2026.

## OneTab vs Toby compared

| | OneTab | Toby | SuperCommands |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Best at | Clearing a window | Visual project boards | Reopening named sets |
| Free limit | No limit | 60 cards | No card quota |
| Paid | None | $6/member/month | None |
| Sync and sharing | No | Live sync, team spaces | Optional Drive backup |
| Browsers | Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari | Chrome, Firefox, Edge, mobile | Chrome, Edge, Brave |

## When is OneTab the better choice?

When your problem is too many open tabs, not getting the same tabs back. One click turns every tab in the window into a list on the OneTab page.

- Fact: version 2.24, updated October 11, 2026, about 2 million users ([listing](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/onetab/chphlpgkkbolifaimnlloiipkdnihall)).
- Limit: restoring a group removes it from the list unless you lock it first, and uninstalling OneTab deletes everything it stored.
- Skip it if you reopen the same project tabs every week.

## When is Toby the better choice?

When you want saved tabs as cards on a board on your new tab page, synced across devices and shared with a team.

- Fact: about 300,000 users; Productivity is $6 per member per month or $4.50 billed yearly; Team is $10 ($8 yearly) ([pricing](https://www.gettoby.com/pricing)).
- Limit: the free Starter plan holds 60 cards in total.
- Skip it if you have hundreds of saved tabs and do not want a subscription.

## What if I reopen the same tab sets every day?

Neither tool opens a set without a visit to its page. SuperCommands opens a saved set from anywhere with a typed command.

- Scenario: save your 7 hiring tabs as `hiring`. Press `Alt + S`, type `c hiring`, press `Enter`: all 7 open. Or set a hotkey such as `Alt + 1`.
- Limit: no live sync, team spaces or Firefox. Details in the [links docs](/docs/links).

SuperCommands is free and open source. The local version is 100% free, forever.

## Which one should you pick?

- Pick OneTab to clear a window in one click and keep a free, unlimited list.
- Pick Toby for visual boards, sync across devices and shared team spaces.
- Pick SuperCommands for named tab sets you reopen daily by command, free. More detail in [our OneTab comparison](/blogs/supercommands-vs-onetab-tab-sessions-alternative) and [Toby alternative breakdown](/blogs/supercommands-vs-toby-free-open-source-toby-alternative).

## FAQ

### Is OneTab or Toby free?

OneTab is completely free. Toby is free up to 60 cards; Productivity costs $6 per member per month as of October 2026.

### Does OneTab sync between computers?

No. OneTab keeps its lists in the browser on one computer. Toby syncs on paid and free plans through your account.

### Can I move from OneTab to Toby?

Yes. OneTab can export its lists as text, and Toby can import links, so you can bring saved tabs across.

### Which uses less memory?

OneTab closes the tabs it saves, which frees their memory. Toby saves cards but leaves your open tabs as they are.

OneTab vs Toby compared: free limits, how each saves and reopens tabs, sync, and who should pick which. Plus a free option for tab sets you reopen daily.

OneTab vs Toby: Which Tab Saver Fits You? (2026)

The best Tab Manager Plus alternative depends on the gap you hit: Tab Session Manager for tab groups, Session Buddy for crash recovery, Tabli for keyboard switching, and SuperCommands if you reopen the same pages every day. Tab Manager Plus is not abandoned, though: version 7.0.0 shipped October 15, 2026, so you may not need to switch.

## Why do people leave Tab Manager Plus?

Usually for one of three specific gaps. [Tab Manager Plus](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/tab-manager-plus-for-chro/cnkdjjdmfiffagllbiiilooaoofcoeff) shows every window and tab in one popup, with regex filters, duplicate highlighting, per-window tab caps and drag between windows. It is [MPL-2.0 open source](https://github.com/stefanXO/Tab-Manager-Plus) on Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox.

- **No tab groups:** the README says Chrome tab groups are not supported yet.
- **No session history:** saved windows are manual only.
- **No library:** nothing ties a saved window to notes or a to-do.

## Tab Manager Plus alternatives compared

User counts are from the Chrome Web Store, October 2026. "Not stated" means the listing and site do not mention tab groups; test before relying on it.

| Alternative | Fixes this gap | Tab groups | Open source | Users |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Chrome built-ins | No install | Native | n/a | Built in |
| Tabli | Keyboard switching | Not stated | Yes | 50K |
| Session Buddy | Crash recovery | Not stated | No | 1M |
| Tab Session Manager | Auto saves, groups | Yes (7.2.0+) | MPL-2.0 | 100K |
| Tabs Outliner | Tree with notes | Not stated | No | 100K |
| Workona | Project spaces | Resource sections | No | 200K |
| SuperCommands | Reopening tab sets | No | Yes | n/a |

## Seven alternatives, by the gap they fix

### Chrome's built-in tab search and vertical tabs

**Best for:** trying before installing anything.

Chrome now covers search across windows and a full list of titles.

- Scenario: press `Ctrl + Shift + A` (`Cmd + Shift + A` on Mac) or type `@tabs` and `Tab` in the address bar; right-click the tab strip for **Show Tabs Vertically** ([Google](https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2391819?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en)). Edge toggles vertical tabs with `Ctrl + Shift + ,`.
- Skip it if: you rely on tab caps, regex filters or all windows side by side.
- Price: free.

### Tabli

**Best for:** a lighter keyboard switcher.

[Tabli](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/tabli/igeehkedfibbnhbfponhjjplpkeomghi) is a searchable popup of all windows and tabs with saved windows; updated October 18, 2026, rated 4.5, and its listing says it sends no data externally.

- Skip it if: you need tab limits or layouts.
- Price: free.

### Session Buddy

**Best for:** getting yesterday's tabs back.

[Session Buddy](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/session-buddy/edacconmaakjimmfgnblocblbcdcpbko) adds a history timeline, collections and one search across open tabs, collections and history.

- Weakness: local only, no sync yet; 3.3 rating, the lowest here.
- Price: free.

### Tab Session Manager

**Best for:** staying open source with tab groups.

[Tab Session Manager](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/tab-session-manager/iaiomicjabeggjcfkbimgmglanimpnae) saves sessions when windows close and on a timer (every 0.5 minutes at most under Manifest V3), with tags, cloud sync and Session Buddy import.

- Weakness: a session tool, not a live grid; pair it with tab search.
- Price: free, MPL-2.0.

### Tabs Outliner

**Best for:** a tree instead of a grid.

[Tabs Outliner](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/tabs-outliner/eggkanocgddhmamlbiijnphhppkpkmkl) nests new tabs under their opener, lets you annotate items, and "close and save" turns a window into a saved branch.

- Weakness: shortcuts and automatic backups need a one-time payment, price not listed.
- Price: free core.

### Workona

**Best for:** one space per project.

[Workona](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/workona-tab-manager/ailcmbgekjpnablpdkmaaccecekgdhlh) autosaves spaces and suspends tabs to save memory.

- Weakness: needs an account and is the biggest habit change here.
- Price: unlimited spaces and 90-day session backups are on Pro ([plans](https://workona.com/plans)).

### SuperCommands

**Best for:** windows you save over and over, like "monthly report".

SuperCommands does not list open tabs; you save a set once and reopen it by command ([Links docs](/docs/links)).

- Scenario: open five month-end tabs, press `Alt + S`, type `c link`, pick **Current Tabs**, set the shortcut `monthend`; next month type `c`, Space, `monthend`. `c duplicate` and `c merge` tidy live tabs.
- Weakness: saves addresses only, and no grid view; Chrome, Edge and Brave only.
- Price: free and open source; the local version is 100% free, forever.

> **Tip:** Before you uninstall, use Tab Manager Plus's export to save your windows, then paste the URLs into the new tool.

## Which one should you pick?

- Pick **Tab Session Manager** if you only need tab groups to work.
- Pick **Tabli** if you want something lighter, or **Session Buddy** if you lost a window once too often.
- Pick **Tabs Outliner** for trees or **Workona** for project spaces.
- Pick **SuperCommands** if you keep saving the same windows. See the [best tab manager Chrome extensions](/blogs/best-tab-manager-extensions-chrome-edge-brave) and [Session Buddy alternatives](/blogs/session-buddy-alternatives).

Tab Manager Plus Alternative: 7 Options for Chrome (2026)

The closest Session Buddy alternative is Tab Session Manager: it auto-saves sessions, is free and open source, syncs, and imports your Session Buddy library directly. Use OneTab to park tabs, Workona or Toby if your sessions are really projects, and SuperCommands if you reopen the same tab sets on purpose every day.

## Why do people replace Session Buddy?

Session Buddy is maintained (v4.1.2, April 28, 2026, about 1 million users), but it rates 3.3 from 25,100 ratings and its listing confirms there is no cross-device sync yet.

Know which feature you rely on, because no alternative copies all of them ([store listing](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/session-buddy/edacconmaakjimmfgnblocblbcdcpbko), [sessionbuddy.com](https://sessionbuddy.com/)):

- **Timeline:** snapshots for recovery after a crash. You need an automatic saver.
- **Collections:** saved tab sets with duplicate detection. Almost any tab manager will do.
- **Export:** 15+ formats, including plain text, JSON, CSV and Markdown, stored locally with no account.

## The Session Buddy alternatives, compared

Prices and user counts are from official pages and the Chrome Web Store, October 2026.

| Alternative | Replaces | Auto-save | Price | Users |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Tab Session Manager | Timeline, collections | On close and timer | Free, MPL-2.0 | 100K |
| OneTab | Collections | No | Free | 2M |
| Tabs Outliner | Crash recovery tree | Local tree saves | Free core, one-time upgrade | 100K |
| Workona | Project spaces | Per space | Free sign-up; Pro, Team | 200K |
| Toby | Collections | No | Free to 60 tabs | 300K |
| SuperCommands | Tab sets you reopen | No | Free, open source | n/a |

### Tab Session Manager

**Best for:** a like-for-like, open-source replacement.

[Tab Session Manager](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/tab-session-manager/iaiomicjabeggjcfkbimgmglanimpnae) saves windows when they close and on a timer; Manifest V3 raised the minimum interval from 0.1 to 0.5 minutes. It keeps names, tags and Chrome tab groups.

- Key fact: imports Session Buddy directly, so you do not rebuild your library.
- Skip it if: dense settings screens put you off.
- Price: free, [MPL-2.0](https://github.com/sienori/Tab-Session-Manager); Chrome, Edge and Firefox.

### OneTab

**Best for:** people who only used collections.

[OneTab](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/onetab/chphlpgkkbolifaimnlloiipkdnihall) turns every tab in the window into a list with one click. [Its site](https://www.one-tab.com/) lists folders, notes, import/export and encrypted sync.

- Scenario: 40 tabs become one list; restore one or all.
- Skip it if: you need crash recovery; nothing saves unless you clicked first.
- Price: free.

### Tabs Outliner

**Best for:** using history as a map of your work.

[Tabs Outliner](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/tabs-outliner/eggkanocgddhmamlbiijnphhppkpkmkl) keeps a live tree of windows and tabs and saves each change locally, so after a crash you reopen only the branches you want.

- Key fact: notes on any tab.
- Skip it if: you want frequent backups, Drive backup or shortcuts free; those need a one-time payment (price not listed).
- Price: free core.

### Workona

**Best for:** collections named after clients or projects.

[Workona](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/workona-tab-manager/ailcmbgekjpnablpdkmaaccecekgdhlh) keeps each project's tabs in a space, autosaves them and syncs across computers.

- Key fact: 90-day session backups and unlimited spaces are Pro.
- Skip it if: you do not want an account.
- Price: the [plans page](https://workona.com/plans) lists no prices.

### Toby

**Best for:** visual boards of saved tabs.

[Toby](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/toby-for-chrome/hddnkoipeenegfoeaoibdmnaalmgkpip) shows collections as boards, saves tab groups with their colors and syncs when signed in.

- Key fact: about 300,000 users, the most of the project-style options here.
- Skip it if: you have more than 60 saved tabs and do not want to pay.
- Price: from $4.50/month billed yearly ([pricing](https://www.gettoby.com/pricing)).

### SuperCommands

**Best for:** the same five or six sessions reopened every week.

Save a set once and launch it by name. Optional backup goes to your own Google Drive every 24 hours, keeping up to 15 versions ([Drive backup](/docs/drive-backup)).

- Scenario: press `Alt + S`, type `c link`, pick four support tabs from **Current Tabs**, add the shortcut `support`; `c support` reopens all four ([Links](/docs/links)).
- Skip it if: you need a timeline or automatic saving.
- Price: free and open source; the local version is 100% free, forever.

## How do I move my sessions out of Session Buddy?

Back up first, then export, then import into one test collection.

1. **Back up:** gear icon, then **Backup**. The file holds all collections and history; keep it.
2. **Export:** gear icon, then **Export**. Pick collections and a format; plain text pastes most easily.
3. **Import:** Tab Session Manager imports Session Buddy directly; OneTab has its own import. For SuperCommands, open one exported collection and save it with `c link`.
4. **Test:** restart the browser and check one collection before moving the rest.

> **Note:** Session Buddy's own steps are on its [backup](https://sessionbuddy.com/backup-restore/) and [import/export](https://sessionbuddy.com/import-export/) pages.

## Which one should you pick?

- Pick **Tab Session Manager** if you want crash recovery and sync without paying.
- Pick **OneTab** if you just park tabs to free memory.
- Pick **Workona or Toby** if your sessions map to clients or projects.
- Pick **SuperCommands** if your sessions are fixed routines. See [Chrome tab groups vs saved sessions](/blogs/chrome-tab-groups-vs-saved-sessions) or the [tab manager comparison](/blogs/best-tab-manager-extensions-chrome-edge-brave).

## FAQ

Yes. It was updated April 28, 2026, carries the "Featured" badge and stores data locally.

### Will restoring a session bring back what I typed into forms?

Session Buddy Alternative: 6 Options Compared (2026)

Every extension below installs from the Chrome Web Store, so it also runs in Edge and Brave. Prices, limits and user counts were checked on official pages or store listings in October 2026.

[Text Blaze](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/text-blaze-templates-and/idgadaccgipmpannjkmfddolnnhmeklj) snippets add dropdowns, dates, formulas and Autopilot, which presses `Tab` between fields. 800,000 users, rated 4.8.

SuperCommands stores Text Expanders beside link collections, notes and to-dos in one workspace, all reachable from `Alt + S`. Snippets keep formatting, `{name}` placeholders and cursor position.

- Scenario: type `c/followup` in Gmail and the saved reply replaces it; `c/intro` works on LinkedIn ([docs](/docs/text-expanders)).

### Espanso

**Best for:** developers who want one expander in every app.

- Fact: works in the terminal and code editor too.
- Skip it if: you do not want to edit config files.
- Price: free, GPL-3.

## Do you need an extension at all?

Not for light use. Two built-in options cover a few repeated replies.

- **Gmail templates:** Settings, See all settings, Advanced, Templates, Enable. They work only in Gmail on a computer, with no typed shortcut ([Google help](https://support.google.com/mail/answer/14864208?hl=en)).
- **macOS Text Replacements or PowerToys on Windows:** system-wide, with gaps. See [how to create text shortcuts in Chrome](/blogs/how-to-create-text-shortcuts-in-chrome).

> **Note:** [PhraseExpress](https://www.phraseexpress.com/) is another desktop option, but its [freeware terms](https://www.phraseexpress.com/shop/freeware/) cover personal use only; paid work needs a license after 30 days.

## Which one should you pick?

- Pick **Text Blaze** if your snippets need forms, dropdowns or calculations.
- Pick **TextExpander** if a company needs one managed library on every device.
- Pick **Briskine** if you mainly write email and want 30 free templates.
- Pick **SuperCommands** if you want a free, open-source expander that also reopens your tabs. Compare it with [Text Blaze](/blogs/supercommands-text-expanders-vs-textblaze) and [TextExpander](/blogs/supercommands-text-expanders-vs-textexpander).

## FAQ

### Is there a completely free text expander for Chrome?

Yes. SuperCommands, ProKeys and Free Auto Text Expander are free. Text Blaze, TextExpander and Briskine cap free plans at 20, 5 and 30 snippets.

### Does Chrome have a built-in text expander?

No. Chrome autofills addresses and payments only. Gmail templates and OS text replacement are the closest built-in options.

### Can a browser text expander work in Word or the Slack desktop app?

No. Use Espanso, PhraseExpress, or the Text Blaze or TextExpander desktop apps.

### Are text expander extensions safe?

They read what you type, so pick one with a named developer, recent updates and a privacy policy. Open-source tools like SuperCommands and Espanso let you inspect the code.

Best Text Expander Chrome Extension: 8 Compared (2026)

The best Instant Data Scraper alternative depends on where it let you down. If it grabbed the wrong block on a page that is really an HTML table, SuperCommands or Table Capture exports the table directly; for repeatable multi-page scrapes, use Web Scraper or Data Miner. Instant Data Scraper itself still has about 1,000,000 users and a 4.9 rating, so check whether you need to switch at all.

## Instant Data Scraper is still updated, by a new publisher

It is maintained, though not by its original developer. Web Robots [says](https://webrobots.io/instantdata/) Instant Data is "no longer owned, developed or supported by Web Robots." The [Chrome Web Store listing](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/instant-data-scraper/ofaokhiedipichpaobibbnahnkdoiiah) is published by Flavr Technology, LP and was updated October 16, 2026 (version 1.9.3).

It is free, guesses the data with heuristics, follows "Next" buttons and infinite scroll, and exports XLS, XLSX or CSV. People look elsewhere when:

- **Detection misfires:** it picks the navigation menu or sidebar instead of the data.
- **No saved setup:** they want a repeatable job for the same site.
- **Too much tool:** they only ever needed one clean table.

## The 5 Instant Data Scraper alternatives compared

Prices as of October 2026, from each official page.

| Tool | Extracts | Multi-page | Output | Price |

### SuperCommands

**Best for:** pages where the data is already a real HTML table.

SuperCommands is a keyboard command bar for Chrome, Edge and Brave, not a scraper. Its Download All Tables command converts every standard HTML table on the active page into its own CSV file, with no preview or guessing.

- Scenario: on a stats page with 4 tables, press `Alt + S`, type "Download All Tables", press `Enter`: you get 4 CSV files, one per table.
- Skip it if: the data is a `div` grid, spans pages or must be .xlsx.
- Price: free and open source; the local version is 100% free, forever. See the [Download All Tables docs](/docs/download-tables).

### Table Capture

**Best for:** sending tables to Google Sheets every day.

[Table Capture](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/table-capture/iebpjdmgckacbodjpijphcplhebcmeop) copies tables to the clipboard and exports to Sheets, and also handles some `div` tables.

- Fact: CSV and Excel downloads, multi-page tables and PDF tables need Pro.
- Skip it if: you regularly export more than 250 rows and will not pay.
- Price: free to 250 rows; [Pro Basic $12/year, Pro Max $120/year](https://georgemike.com/tablecapture/plans/).

### Web Scraper

**Best for:** multi-page jobs you run again and again.

[Web Scraper](https://webscraper.io/) replaces guessing with a "sitemap", a tree of selectors you build by clicking. It handles JavaScript and infinite scroll; the extension has about 900,000 users and a 4.7 rating.

- Scenario: open each category, page through results and visit every detail page; the saved sitemap makes the second run quick.
- Skip it if: you need data once; setup takes longer than Instant Data Scraper.
- Price: extension free; [Cloud](https://webscraper.io/pricing) scheduling from $50/month billed annually.

### Data Miner

**Best for:** popular sites someone has already mapped.

[Data Miner](https://dataminer.io/) cites 50,000+ public recipes for 15,000+ websites and supports next-page automation on the free plan.

- Fact: crawls, custom JavaScript and Google Sheets are paid features.
- Skip it if: you scrape more than 500 pages a month on a budget.
- Price: [free to 500 pages a month](https://dataminer.io/pricing); paid from $19.99/month. See [SuperCommands vs Data Miner](/blogs/supercommands-vs-data-miner).

### HTML-Table Scraper

**Best for:** grabbing one table now and then.

[HTML-Table Scraper](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/html-table-scraper/ncphhmcjgbpglahiijnaaaaneoijlmkj) adds a right-click option to copy or save one table.

- Fact: saves as CSV, tab-delimited text or JSON.
- Skip it if: a page has many tables or the data is not in `table` markup.
- Price: free.

## Which tool fits your page?

Right-click a data cell and choose **Inspect**; the markup decides.

1. **Inside a `table` element, one page:** any table tool works. SuperCommands, Table Capture or HTML-Table Scraper is fastest.
2. **A `div`, one or a few pages:** keep Instant Data Scraper.
3. **The same multi-page scrape every week:** build it once in Web Scraper or use a Data Miner recipe.

> **Tip:** Run any table export after the page fully loads and your filters are set; it saves what is on the page at that moment.

## Which one should you pick?

- Pick **SuperCommands** if your data is in clean HTML tables and you want a free command bar for links, notes and screenshots too.
- Pick **Table Capture** if tables go into Google Sheets daily.
- Pick **Web Scraper or Data Miner** if you rerun multi-page scrapes.
- Pick **Instant Data Scraper** if you scrape messy lists now and then; it is free and still updated. For cleanup, see [extracting tables to CSV or Excel](/blogs/how-to-extract-tables-from-any-website-to-csv-or-excel) and our [table scraper roundup](/blogs/best-table-downloader-extensions-chrome-edge-brave).

## FAQ

### Is Instant Data Scraper safe?

Its listing says scraped data stays in your browser and the publisher, Flavr Technology, LP, has no history of violations. Review its permissions before installing, as with any extension that reads pages.

### Does Instant Data Scraper work on Edge and Brave?

Yes. Both are Chromium browsers and install it from the Chrome Web Store; Web Robots' page also links an Edge Add-ons listing.

### Can SuperCommands scrape lists or multiple pages?

No. It only converts standard HTML tables on the current page into CSV files, with no list detection, pagination or scheduling.

### What is a good open-source alternative to Instant Data Scraper?

For HTML tables, SuperCommands is open source on [GitHub](https://github.com/supercommands). Web Scraper is free to use, but its listing does not describe it as open source.

Instant Data Scraper Alternative: 5 Options Compared (2026)

The most common reason to look for a Text Blaze alternative is the free plan: 20 active snippets, with forms and images limited to 5 uses a day. If your snippets are mostly plain text with a name swapped in, SuperCommands gives you free, open-source Text Expanders in Chrome, Edge and Brave. If you rely on formulas, conditions or Autopilot, staying on Text Blaze Pro is the honest answer.

This comparison was written by the SuperCommands team. Text Blaze details come from its [plans page](https://blaze.today/plans/), [Chrome Web Store listing](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/text-blaze-templates-and/idgadaccgipmpannjkmfddolnnhmeklj) and [community forum](https://community.blaze.today/t/limitations-of-the-free-plan/39448), checked in October 2026.

## Why do people look for a Text Blaze alternative?

Text Blaze is the strongest browser template tool we know of (800,000 users, 4.8 from 1.9K ratings), but three things push people away.

- **20-snippet cap:** the plans page says "Limited snippets"; the official forum puts it at 20 active snippets. A recruiter with an intro per role hits that quickly.
- **Price for plain text:** Pro is $3.49/month or $2.99 billed yearly; Business is $8.39/user/month or $6.99 yearly (October 2026).
- **Account-only storage:** snippets live in Text Blaze's dashboard, not locally or in your own cloud.

## How does SuperCommands compare with Text Blaze?

SuperCommands covers plain snippets with placeholders; Text Blaze adds forms, logic and desktop apps.

| Feature | SuperCommands | Text Blaze |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free limit | No snippet cap | 20 active snippets |
| Trigger | `c/` plus name | Any shortcut |
| Fill-in values | `{name}` placeholders | Forms, dropdowns, dates |
| Formulas, Autopilot | No | Yes |
| Outside the browser | No | Windows and Mac apps |
| Storage | Local or your Google Drive | Text Blaze account |

To move one snippet (no importer is documented):

1. In SuperCommands, go to Create, then Text Expander, paste the text and name it `followup`.
2. Replace simple form fields with placeholders like `{name}` or `{company}`, and set where the cursor lands.
3. In Gmail, type `c/followup`: the saved text replaces it and you fill in `{name}`. See the [Text Expanders docs](/docs/text-expanders).

The same `Alt + S` bar also opens saved tabs: a sales rep can run `c pipeline` for the CRM, deal sheet and call notes, then `c/prospect` in Gmail. See [how to search tabs, links and notes from one command bar](/blogs/how-to-search-tabs-links-and-notes-from-one-command-bar).

> **Note:** You lose forms, formulas, conditions, Autopilot, page data, desktop expansion and shared team folders. Keep any snippet that needs those in Text Blaze.

## What are the other Text Blaze alternatives?

Briskine suits email templates, Espanso suits system-wide expansion, and TextExpander suits team admins.

- **[Briskine](https://www.briskine.com/pricing/):** free for up to 30 templates with recipient variables; Premium is $7/person/month.
- **[Espanso](https://espanso.org/):** free, open source (GPL-3) for Windows, macOS and Linux; forms and scripts, configured in files.
- **[TextExpander](https://textexpander.com/pricing):** 5 active snippets free; Pro is $60/user/year (October 2026).

More in our [text expander extensions comparison](/blogs/best-text-expander-extensions-chrome-edge-brave).

## Which one should you pick?

- Pick **Text Blaze** if your snippets use forms, calculations, Autopilot or shared team folders; Pro is inexpensive.
- Pick **SuperCommands** (free and open source; the local version is 100% free, forever) if your snippets are plain text and you hit the 20-snippet cap.
- Pick **Briskine** if your snippets are mostly emails.
- Pick **Espanso** if you need expansion in Word and native apps for free.

Text Blaze Alternative: SuperCommands vs Text Blaze (2026)

Chrome, Edge and Brave have no built-in notes, so to take notes in your browser you need a web app or a notes extension. Use the Google Keep extension (about 8 million users) if you want notes on your phone; use SuperCommands if you want notes one keystroke away while you work.

## Does Chrome have a notes feature?

No. Reading list saves pages and bookmarks save addresses, but neither stores your own text. Typing `keep.new` or `docs.new` in the address bar opens a blank Keep note or Google Doc in a new tab, away from the page you were on.

## Which notes extension fits how you work?

Pick by where you want the notes to live.

| Option | Where notes live | Best for | Trade-off |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Google Keep | Your Keep account | Notes synced to Android and iOS | 2.5 stars; opens in Keep |
| Notion Web Clipper | A Notion database | Notion teams | Clips pages; write in Notion |
| Obsidian Web Clipper | Local Markdown vault | Long-term research | Needs the Obsidian app |
| SuperCommands Notes | The extension, by workspace | Notes opened by command | No mobile; Chromium only |

- **[Google Keep](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/google-keep-chrome-extens/lpcaedmchfhocbbapmcbpinfpgnhiddi):** saves the URL, selected text or an image with a note and labels; updated October 2026. Labels, no folders.
- **[Notion Web Clipper](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/notion-web-clipper/knheggckgoiihginacbkhaalnibhilkk):** about 1 million users, 2.9 rating. A clipper, not a notepad.
- **[Obsidian Web Clipper](https://obsidian.md/clipper):** free and open source; turns pages or highlights into Markdown notes with templates, and also runs in Firefox and Safari.

## How do I take notes in my browser with SuperCommands?

Press `Alt + S` on any page and type `c note`. SuperCommands Notes sit beside your saved links, snippets and to-dos in Chrome, Edge and Brave ([Notes docs](/docs/notes)).

1. Press `Alt + S`, type `c note` (or open **Notes**, then **Create New Note**).
2. Add a title, such as "Acme call prep".
3. Write the body with headings, lists, bold, italic or underline.
4. Choose a channel and folder, then click **Create Note**.

Worked example: a recruiter on a candidate's LinkedIn profile saves interview notes, tags them `#interview`, files them in a Hiring workspace and gives them the shortcut `maya`. The next day, from Gmail, `c maya` opens the note.

To open a note again:

- **Search:** `Alt + S`, then part of the title.
- **Address bar:** `c`, Space, `n roadmap` searches notes only.
- **Shortcuts:** a Text Shortcut (`c grocery`) or hotkey (`Alt + 1`) set in Properties.
- **Tags:** type `#urgent` in `Alt + S` to see every tagged item.

Notes are for your own writing. Use [web clips](/docs/webclips) to save part of a page, and text expanders (`c/followup` in Gmail) for text you paste elsewhere; see our [text expander comparison](/blogs/best-text-expander-extensions-chrome-edge-brave).

> **Note:** There is no mobile app, Firefox or Safari version, sharing or live sync. Data stays local by default; Google Drive backup is under Settings, then **Drive & Backup**.

## Which one should you pick?

- Pick **Google Keep** if you want notes on your phone too.
- Pick **Notion Web Clipper** if your team already plans in Notion.
- Pick **Obsidian Web Clipper** if you want plain Markdown files you own.
- Pick **SuperCommands** if you want notes next to your links and tabs, one keystroke away; it is free and open source, and the local version is 100% free, forever. See [search tabs, links and notes from one command bar](/blogs/how-to-search-tabs-links-and-notes-from-one-command-bar).
