Drive, Backup & Cloud Data covers local backup, Google Drive backup, cloud export, profile, and logout settings.

Local data

Create, export, and restore a ZIP backup on the current device.

Google Drive

Connect Google Drive, create versioned backups in private app data, and export an Excel copy from the Drive panel.

Cloud account

Eligible signed-in users can review profile details, export cloud data, or log out.

A restore replaces current local database content. Always verify the selected workspace and backup version before confirming.

Create or restore a local backup

Local mode keeps backup control on the current device and does not require a Google account connection.

Backup now

Extracts the extension database and downloads a versioned local ZIP backup.

Export backup

Downloads another local ZIP copy through the browser download flow.

Restore backup

Accepts a valid cmdOS backup ZIP, validates its manifest and contents, and then asks for confirmation before replacing local data.

Local backups stay on the device unless the downloaded file is moved or copied elsewhere by the user.

Connect and back up to Google Drive

Drive mode uses browser identity authorization and stores completed versions in Google Drive app data.

1Choose a workspace

Select the workspace whose backup mode and history should be managed.

2Connect Google Drive

Approve the browser identity prompt. cmdOS records Drive as the backup mode for that workspace.

3Run Backup to Drive now

cmdOS uploads a completed backup version, refreshes backup history, and downloads an Excel copy.

4Check the result

Review status, last-updated time, estimated payload size, and the new entry in backup history.

The Drive panel also provides Export as Excel. Disconnecting Drive clears the connection and switches the active workspace back to local backup mode.

Enable automatic Drive backup

Automatic backup is available for Drive mode and uses the extension scheduler.

Schedule

When enabled, the Drive panel reports an automatic backup interval of every 8 hours.

Stored preference

The auto-backup toggle and the latest backup status, error, and timestamp are retained in extension storage.

Manual backup remains available

Backup to Drive now can still be run whenever an immediate version is needed.

Review, compare, restore, or delete Drive versions

Backup history groups completed Drive backups by date and provides actions for individual versions.

Compare

Compare current local data with a Drive version, or compare two available versions, before deciding what should be restored or merged.

Restore

Downloads the selected completed backup and replaces current local data only after an explicit destructive-action confirmation.

Delete

Opens a version review, confirms the selected backup folders, and deletes those Drive versions without deleting current local workspace data.

Validation

Restore logic requires a complete, valid backup manifest and rejects incompatible or invalid backup data.

Account and cloud data

Cloud options appear only for eligible signed-in users with supported cloud workspace data.

Profile

Shows the saved name, avatar, and account identity when a cloud account is available.
